STATE Leadership Contest: Job Interview
Brittany Gordon and Garrett Correll qualified for the State FFA Job Interview competition. This is very competitive and generally referred to as a senior completion so we were thrilled to have both of them qualify and compete at the State Level again for the third and second year at this level. We are so proud of their accomplishments! At Sub-Districts and District competition Brittany received 1st Place Banners and Garrett received 2nd place out of contestants that had advanced to these competitions. At State Brittany received high scores on her cover letter with an amazing 93-100 percent and received 189-199 out of 200 points on her resume. Garrett received high scores on his cover letter with an amazing 99-100 on his cover letter and a perfect 200 on his resume. These were amazing scores for state completion!!!
STATE Leadership Contest: CREED
Hunter Gibson qualified for State FFA Creed Speaking and did a great job in State completion. Prior to state Hunter had received 3rd place at Districts and 4th place at Sub-Districts. Mike Phelps received 3rd place at Sub-Districts and 7th place at District completion. Great job Mike! Hunter and Mike have worked hard and came a long way to becoming great Freshman Public Speakers! Please tell them congratulations for their efforts and all the hard work and dedication that Hunter put into working towards and presenting at State FFA.
STATE 100% Membership Award
This is an award that goes to the Chapter itself. This award shows how many students are involved in FFA at the Chapter Level. We have received this award every year since 2007. Very few other chapters in the State accept this award besides Washtucna. We were up on stage and received our award at the Saturday Afternoon Session. This is the 10th year in a row that we have received this award! Way to go Washtucna FFA Chapter!
STATE Career Development Contest: Food Science
Jazzmyn Gordon, Aleycia Hamilton, Emma Hulett, Daphnee Smith and Mike Phelps competed at the state level and received 11th Place Overall. They went up against 43 other teams from around the state and did a great job representing our chapter! They worked hard and practiced hard to get where they did having 4 new members at the contest. Aleycia also got a 100% on her food science test! At FFA District Completion in Food Science students Jazzmyn Gordon, Emma Hulett, Brittany Gordon and Mike Phelps received a 4th place overall at the contest Jazzmyn Gordon received 5th high individual. Great Job! There were over 65 other students at the district contest prior to state where over 225 students participated. Congratulations Food Science Team, you represented your community and your FFA Chapter very well!
STATE First Year Greenhand
At State FFA this year our Greenhand Members Daulton Pougue, Hunter Gibson and Dillon Blake competed in First Year Greenhand amongst 86 other teams. At this contest students took a 50 question test and created a business program plan for an event they could organize and hold in their community. Please thank these students for representing our chapter so well at Districts and State Competition!
STATE Jr. High Quiz Bowl
At State FFA this year our Discovery Members Emma Hulett and Daphnee Smith competed in Jr. High Quiz Bowl. At this contest students took a 100 problem test to determine who was going to be on their final team of three for their chapter. These girls competed in this contest and we thank them for representing our chapter!
STATE Career Development Contest: Agronomy Contest
Derek McKeen, Brittany Gordon, Jazzmyn Gordon, Dillon Blake and Hunter Gibson competed at FFA State Agronomy on March 23 and received 9th place overall. This was a younger team and they did a great job of representing us at State. At the district contest Mike Phelps got a high score on identification of plant disorders practicum and Brittany Gordon who had worked hard prior to the contest received 3rd Place individual overall!
Career Development Contest: Soil/Land Evaluation
Brittany Gordon, Jazzmyn Gordon, Emma Hulett, Daphnee Smith, Hunter Gibson and Mike Phelps all represented us in completion. They did a great job this year learning about and understanding more about the applications of soil. From home site evaluations to practical applications of field and cropping systems they evaluated. Congratulations to these students by representing their community very well and to the best of their abilities!
NATIONAL FFA American Degree
Levi Allen, received his American Degree awarded at National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky last October. Levi Allen, Amber Dainty, Jason Hulett and Corbin Harder are the only four students known to attend Washtucna who have ever received the American Degree. Congratulations Levi!
